What are Local Experts?
There are some terrific travel guidebooks and thousands of online travel sites but we believe the best advice about a city comes from people who live there and know the intimate secrets of the local scene and culture. We believe Local Experts can provide travellers with information that can make a good trip great. Our Local Experts play an important role in helping travellers navigate a city, discover the well-kept secrets that live alongside the main tourist attractions, and experience the world differently.
What does a Local Expert do?
A big part of what we ask our local experts to do is write reviews and news-you-can-use that provide travellers with local insight and tips about what to see and eat and where to stay in their cities. This is the kind of information you don’t usually find in a traditional guidebook. It could be a great restaurant where you can mingle with the locals, a unique festival, the trendy after work bar du jour, a wonderful boutique hotel, a must-see festival, cool places to shop, or a fantastic patio to people watch. We want the insights from our Local Experts to inspire travelers to hop off the double-decker bus tours, and experience a city like a local.
How fresh/current are a Local Expert’s articles?
Our Local Experts write about three articles a week. We divide them into three categories: reviews (restaurants, exhibits, festivals, etc.), news-you-can-use (upcoming events, cultural tips, new hotels, etc.) and lists, which can be anything from the best restaurants to eat sushi to the best routes for a run and or go on a bike ride.
